Design
Caroline Egleston creates ceramic compositions. Spontaneous, painterly gesture is captured, fixed by firing. A rhythmic and energetic communication then begins between these components as they dance on the wall.
About Caroline Egleston
After studying ceramics in Faenza, Italy, Caroline Egleston set up her Piccolpasso Workshop in Hampshire, UK, undertaking commissions for ceramic wall and tile compositions in the UK, Europe and the United States.
She has recently completed a Masters’ degree at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey, exploring the ‘painterly’ on the ceramic surface and the potential for clay slip to record gestural marks.
“Clay and glaze pigments, and how they are applied, communicate - in much the same way as our faces, our skin, our own gestures reveal our inner sensibilities.”
